Is it too early to start thinking about next summer? We think not. As the days turn dark and the temperatures plummet, thoughts of early morning ocean swims and al fresco brunches are getting us through our nine-to-fives. And what better way to start planning for 2020 than by chartering a yacht to prepare for an adventure next summer?
Andreas L is the ideal candidate for long, languid days exploring the Med. The finest example of Benetti’s already excellent 60 metre series, she is widely accepted as one of the world’s most successful superyachts on the charter market — and it’s not hard to see why. This summer, Gentleman’s Journal took a look around her extensive refresh — and enjoyed everything this sleek, classically designed vessel has to offer.
We enjoyed on-deck formal dining aft on the main and upper decks, and were especially taken by her very spacious sundeck — with an illuminated Jacuzzi, numerous sunbeds and sun loungers. If you’re lucky enough to secure Andreas L for charter through Edmiston, you’ll also find an al fresco dining area that benefits from breathtaking 360-degree views.
Chasing the sun earlier this month, we were also impressed by the refreshed interior; yet more pitch perfect work by designer RWD. With space, light and clean lines — complemented by the latest modern technology — our stay aboard this most super of superyachts was a sun-soaked, well-appointed delight. The main saloon, with an adjoining dining area, easily accommodated 12 guests — and the upper saloon was ideal for more intimate gatherings.
The luxury continues into the cabins. With a full-beam master, upper deck VIP, two doubles and two twins, there’s more than enough accommodation for your guests, and each living space is elegantly decorated with subtle, natural colours and sustainably sourced materials. There’s even an air-conditioned gym on board, so you can work on your beach body before hitting the sundeck.
But the real temptation comes in the form of toys and tenders; enough hardware to keep you excited for summer 2020 from the dark wintry depths of 2019. Malibu kayaks, remote-control sailing yachts, water skis, a water trampoline and an inflatable iceberg are just some of the toys on offer. There’s a wealth of towables, an inflatable slide, a donut and more paddle boards than you can shake an oar at.
Or, if you prefer the simpler life, why not just spend next summer perfecting your dive off that sumptuously sculpted bow? We know we can’t wait to return to Andreas L next year to wile away our summer. That is, unless you beat us to that charter first…
