Chase the sun with Frescobol Carioca’s Resort ’19 collection
Step inside the French Riviera launch of the Brazilian brand’s colourful new range
It’s late September and a group of well-dressed gents, who a few hours ago were huddled under layers at a rainy London airport, are sipping rose on the elegant terrace of the Chateau Eza hotel in Eze, South of France.
The group of young sartorialists, which includes Sam Webb, James Yates, Mergim Shabani, Ryan Barrett, Miles Bugby and Chris Burt-Allan, have been gathered by Gentleman’s Journal and Frescobol Carioca to celebrate the launch of the Brazilian-inspired brand’s Resort ’19 collection.

Inspired by the bold, angular sculptures of Lygia Clark and the 1950s Neo-Concreto movement, the colourful collection features swim shorts, shirts, polos, sportswear and T-shirts in bright hues and geometric patterns. Running the gamut from lightweight linen to merino wool, it is also a collection designed to help winter sun seekers outfit themselves for every step of their journey – from a drizzly ride to the airport to finally stepping into the ocean on the other side of the world.
Accordingly our group of gents find something for every stage of their trip in the collection. Patterned swim shorts are paired with linen-blend T-shirts for a splash in the ocean at Villefranche-sur-Mer while camp collar shirts are the perfect foil for the midday sun on board a yacht in Plage Mala.

As the sun descends and an early autumn chill plays across the coast, the group swaps swim shorts for relaxed-fit tencel trousers and long-sleeved shirts for cocktail hour overlooking the ocean. When night truly falls, and our group of gents sit down for dinner at the Chateau Eza, the smart-casual dress code is nailed with the help of merino wool sweaters. A truly versatile collection of essentials for the global traveller.
The Resort ’19 collection is available to buy now online and in Frescobol Carioca’s London stores.
