Power – 2013 Range Rover Sport

Jaguar Land Rover know how to create a buzz, and thats exactly what they did when they launched the all new Range Rover Sport in New York. The guest list included the likes of Yasmin Le Bon and Michael Strahan, not to mention none other than Daniel Craig driving the new car into the actual party.

So what about the car itself? Well for starters it has gone on a serious diet and is now 800Ibs lighter than its predecessor. While shredding weight is very much the norm these days, what makes the new Sport’s weight loss so astonishing is the fact it’s 2.5-inches longer and the wheel base has increased by 7 inches also. This weight loss is the result of it’s new high-strength aluminium structure. The styling shares the same DNA as the old model, however it has improved aerodynamics, which reduces drag and is in keeping with the Sports identity.

Other features includes a new 340bhp, 3.0L supercharged V6 alongside the 510bhp supercharged V8, both of which use a eight-speed ZF transmission. There is a third row seating option also, a new fully automatic Terrain Response 2 system and a new single-speed transfer case for the intelligent 4WD system.

Land Rover have described this car as “extremely capable” and we can’t wait to put it to the test.

On sale this Summer and prices are yet to be announced, but the entry level car is expected to cost around £52,000 landrover.com
