This World Cup, pull up a pair of London Sock Company’s new Three Lions-inspired creations

Crafted from the brand’s signature Scottish lisle cotton, these timeless socks can be worn with both off-duty terrace attire or a more formal Southgate-style three-piece...

Since 2013, London Sock Company has been advocating the notion that a solid, well-crafted pair of socks sets a strong foundation not only for the ensemble you wear, but also for your mindset in the day ahead, adding a subtle hit of colour, personality and sureness into your step from the get-go.

Given the well-trodden path that these accessories go through every day, the young British label draws upon the finest yarns and the tightest of knits for its products, in order to ensure durability and long-lasting hues in every pair. That Gentleman’s Journal cover stars such as David Gandy, Ryan Reynolds, Pierce Brosnan, and Hugh Jackman all have the brand in their drawers pays testament to its red-carpet quality.

Not only the preserve of the A-list crowd, London Sock Company is also championed by England football manager Gareth Southgate – and so, for its latest offering, the brand proudly launches the Three Lions Collection in celebration of the England FA and national team, substituting its penny farthing logo for the iconic Three Lions motif.

“Style and football have always been synonymous both on and off the pitch,” says London Sock Company co-founder Ryan Palmer, of the collection. “We founded London Sock Company to shine a spotlight on the importance of this often ignored accessory and are delighted to announce this collaboration with a sport that holds socks in as high regard as we do. We chose to adapt our bestselling dress sock to ensure that England fans are as stylish as the team on the pitch.”

Forming this limited-edition collection, there are six pairs of the brand’s signature Scottish lisle cotton socks (a soft yet hardy material) that are made in a minimalist, ribbed design and in a trio of colours that feature on the Three Lions crest (blue, red, and white – hues and tones that bring to mind the glory of 1966; the tears of Gazza, at Italia ’90; and the redemption of Beckham, in 2002) as well as three other timeless options (navy, black and grey), all of which is available to buy as individual socks, as a bundle of three, or as a set of six (which is a sufficient number of pairs to see you through the group-stages and beyond).

Better still, given the versatile quality of the barely embellished designs and the classic colourways, they can be worn with either off-duty terrace attire or a more formal Southgate-style three-piece, forming a sturdy, centre-back-like base for whatever you face during the day.

Significantly, the new launch marks London Sock Company’s ‘Believe Campaign’, which aims to encourage its wearers to have self confidence, be assured in what they do, and ‘walk brighter’ – the type of ethos Southgate has frequently emphasised during his time in charge of the men’s first team. As such, with every order, London Sock Company will continue donating its wears to Suited & Booted, a British grassroots charity that provides suitable, smart clothes to vulnerable, unemployed, and low-income men who are heading to job interviews, in order to help them feel more confident in their pursuit of getting back into the world of work.

A collection that both looks good and does good – for us, it’s a world beater.
