Lady Britt is one of the most sought-after superyachts on the seas. Here’s why.

At 63 metres, with room for 12 guests and an ice-cream fridge with 52 flavours, this charter adds up to the perfect escape

John Donne once penned the phrase, “No man is an island entire of itself; every man/is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.” What the 17th-century metaphysical poet was getting at was that human beings do not thrive when isolated from others. For all of his pre-eminence as a poet, perhaps dear John would have had a change of heart after a brief trip on the Lady Britt.

This spectacular 63m beauty, launched in 2011 and designed specifically for charter, remains one of the most sought-after charter yachts on the market. Equipped with a modern stabilisation system, roll motion effect on the yacht is dramatically reduced, resulting in a smoother and more enjoyable cruising experience. ‘At anchor stabilisers’ also increase on-board comfort, combining performance and luxury.

With accommodation provided for 12 guests across seven cabins made up of four double rooms, two twins and one master suite, flexible arrangements are in place to suit guests’ needs. Space is also provided for 16 crew when chartering, including a Michelin-starred chef equipped with a legendary 52-flavour ice cream fridge. And no, I can’t name 52 flavours of ice cream either — lobster, perhaps, or maybe Château d’Yquem — But it’s good to know they’re there.

The double aspect sun deck is divided by an air-conditioned gym with incredible panoramic views. The authentic Finnish sauna is the ideal place to sweat out last night’s negronis, and the fully qualified Elemis therapist is on hand to nurse you back to health if this level of opulence has left you feeling particularly existential.

The indoor and outdoor cinemas come with a regularly updated library of more than 1,500 films — a necessity once you’ve worked your way through the metaphysical poets — while a 10-metre water slide and aqua park appeases the young at heart.

No man is an island, but aboard the Lady Britt you’ll get pretty damn close.
