For all of his pre-eminence as a poet, perhaps dear John would have had a change of heart after a brief trip on the Lady Britt.

With accommodation provided for 12 guests across seven cabins made up of four double rooms, two twins and one master suite, flexible arrangements are in place to suit guests’ needs. Space is also provided for 16 crew when chartering, including a Michelin-starred chef equipped with a legendary 52-flavour ice cream fridge. And no, I can’t name 52 flavours of ice cream either — lobster, perhaps, or maybe Château d’Yquem — But it’s good to know they’re there.
The double aspect sun deck is divided by an air-conditioned gym with incredible panoramic views. The authentic Finnish sauna is the ideal place to sweat out last night’s negronis, and the fully qualified Elemis therapist is on hand to nurse you back to health if this level of opulence has left you feeling particularly existential.
The indoor and outdoor cinemas come with a regularly updated library of more than 1,500 films — a necessity once you’ve worked your way through the metaphysical poets — while a 10-metre water slide and aqua park appeases the young at heart.
