Food – Sunday Brunch at thirty-six
Words: Violet

You wake up on Sunday morning, perhaps after a late one the night before, and what do you feel like doing? Reading the newspaper: yes. Enjoying a leisurely brunch with friends: always. And treating yourself: why not!?Rather than go out of your way and end up feeling slightly disappointed at home, we recommend making your way to Dukes St. James’s London, recently awarded the title of Britain’s leading hotel, to try out your taste-buds on the new Sunday brunch menu at Thirty Six. Brought to you by award-winning Executive Head-Chef Nigel Mendham, you can aim your expectations high and get set for quite a feast.Whether you are after a low-key hour to tackle the Sunday Telegraph over a light breakfast, a wholesome brunch ahead of a busy day in London or the hair of the dog, you’ll find a solution to sort you out. The remedies in question, from Mendham’s menus, include a combination of traditional and contemporary flavours with quirky twists that are tantalising to read about and taste. We recommend Duke’s very own ‘hot dog’, made from venison and black pudding sausage. Those on a mission for something sweet can enjoy freshly baked waffles with chocolate, Chantilly cream or maple syrup. Too sweet? Eggs Benedict with duck eggs might take your fancy, or perhaps a selection of meats from the charcuterie buffet will satisfy you. Did we mention the Lobster and fennel slaw and the Waldorf salad?Spoiled for choice? Indeed. You’ll never want brunch at home again. Brunch at Thirty-Six by Nigel Mendham is served from 12pm to 2.30pm every Sunday and is priced at £35 per person or £45 with an added glass of champagne.
