5 ways to make a good first impression

Apparently, we can make up our minds on how we feel the opposite sex the first few minutes of meeting them...

This shouldn’t be news to you, but apparently the opposite sex will decide what they think about you sexually within the first few minutes of meeting you. If you like a girl, therefore, you need to make sure that you’re making a decent first impression on her. Get this wrong in these crucial seconds and it’s surefire that you’ve lost out forever.

Walking over to someone confidently is the polar opposite to approaching them with an arrogant swagger. Sure, girls like a hint of a bad boy, but a hint, and arrogance is going to get you absolutely no where. Go over there calmly but with self-confidence that your chat up line is going to work and more often than not, it will.

There are a couple of scientifically proven things that women are going to notice about when they first meet you, so you need to make sure that you’re aware of these. Shoes are apparently the first thing she’ll notice, so make sure you’ve got nailed that. Next, make sure your facial hair is just-so, that you’ve made some kind of an effort with what you’re wearing: a shirt, a blazer and a decent pair of chinos make for the perfect combination. The homeless look never worked on anyone, and equally a three-piece suit might make you look a little try-hard.

Please, for the love of God, don’t go over there and open with some hideously cringe-worthy chat up line. Instead work your magic and offer to buy her a drink before proceeding to charm her socks off by asking her questions she’s actually interested in answering. Opening a conversation by asking her something instantly registers your interest in her but a word of caution, don’t ask her what she does. Save that for the first time she meets your great Aunt.

Most girls are going to think excessively about the body language you’re using, so you need to make sure you’re doing the same. Maintaining eye contact with her is perhaps the most important thing, but equally turning your body away from her, crossing your arms or yawning are all going to give her totally the wrong impression and make her shy away from any kind of contact going forward. Be open, be friendly, and make sure that you’re giving her all of the right messages.

It’s all very well asking her all of the right questions, but if you can’t give her the right chat back, you’re going to be stuck. The essential rules: don’t talk about yourself, don’t make terrible jokes, don’t use any chat up lines and don’t try to be funny when you’re really not. Keep calm, don’t get ahead of yourself, and be as natural as possible. We can guarantee this will play in your favour.

As obvious as this may sound, you need to make sure that you’ve added some extra deodorant or a spitz of fragrance. You also need to make sure you don’t have food in your teeth or that your breath smells. We know these sound pretty obvious, but these are all things that you need to consider before approaching her. There’s nothing that’s going to turn off a girl more than a guy with terrible personal hygiene, and if this is you on your first meeting, you’re bound to never seen her again.
