Wishlist: Electric yacht, Shaving Set and the latest iPhone

From a Steven McQueen roll neck to a pair of wireless headphones, this is what we want this week...

The iPhone X, named in honour of the range’s tenth anniversary and developed in parallel to the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, has been hailed by Apple CEO Tim Cook as the biggest leap forward since the release of the Cupertino giant’s first smartphone.

In keeping up with its reputation for slick design, Apple has gone for a stripped-back look for its latest offering, opting for a nearly bezel-free body with a 5.8-inch TrueTone OLED Super Retina display and stainless-steel side bands, while ditching the home button altogether. The less obvious features are housed inside and include infrared, neural network-powered 3D facial recognition (otherwise known as Face ID) and an A11 Bionic processor with a neural engine and dual camera system, with optical image stabilisation for both lenses. The glass back also allows for Qi-compatible wireless charging. Ready to order from October 27th, the iPhone X will be available in either spay grey or silver.

Since 1928, Hinckley has been leading the way when it comes to designing some of the finest vessels money can buy. And now, with The Dasher, the company has released the world’s first fully electric yacht.

In terms of engineering, The Dasher uses dual batteries sourced from BMW’s i3 line to power its twin 80hp inboard motors, while the 50-amp charging cables allow the boat to recharge in just under four hours. Moreover, although it ensures a silent driving experience due to its super lightweight construction, this yacht has a range of 40mph and a top speed of 28 mph. Other specs include a touchscreen console, a frameless windshield that raises and lowers as needed and hidden lighting for evening voyages.

If you’re struggling to find a storage unit worthy to house your timepieces while travelling, let Smythson lend you a hand. This dark-brown Mara unit is made from premium calf leather and features a contrasting nubuck lining and removable padded roll in order to accommodate a variety of watch styles and protect them against scratches and scuffs. Expertly crafted and elegantly designed, what more could you expect from the finest maker of luxury leather goods?

Surrounded by acres of lush greenery and perched on the Pacific Coast Highway, there is little doubt that the recently remodelled Native (formerly known as the Malibu Riviera) is one of California’s finest hotels. Originally built in 1947, this bijou-sized retreat stays true to its mid-century roots with wood beams, concrete floors and handcrafted furniture. Moreover, although it may not be as glamorous as other destinations on offer due to its stripped-back interior and affordable prices, it makes for a charming escape nonetheless. Expect minimally-decorated rooms that accomodate king-sized beds, exclusive artwork that lines the walls, bathrooms furnished with ceramic tiles and beautiful Dutch doors which lead to private patios.

Chanel the spirit of Steve McQueen’s Bullitt and pick-up this luxurious merino wool roll neck from Sunspel. Soft and lightweight, yet incredibly insulating, this is a wardrobe must-have for the winter. For effortless office style, wear with wool trousers and layer over a grandad-collar shirt.

If you hadn’t heard, green is the ‘it’ colour this season. So if you’re looking for some headphones that’ll blend in easily with the crowd, this pair of Urbanears may be the ticket. Better still, few options can trump it when it comes to quality. Not only is it wireless with a built-in microphone, but it also contains a swipe-interface on the earcup, has a single-charge that’ll allow you to enjoy up to 14 hours of playtime and is designed in a collapsible structure for easy portability.

London-based design agency Layer has just created your next grooming essential; a three-part shaving system. Composed of a badger hair brush and a case which transforms into both a drying rack and a dish for the razor (all of which are connected through a hidden magnetic system), this unit is not only the closest thing you’ll get to a traditional barber shop shave without leaving your home, but, due to the fact that it can easily fit into a dopp kit, it’s also the perfect accessory for the gent on-the-go.
