The Journal picks two great offers for this weekend.
Arnaud de Lassalle Pouilly-Fume, 2011, Loire, France, On Offer at £9.74 from £12.99

Treat yourself this weekend with this crisp and fresh Pouilly-Fume. Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes in the well renowned Loire region, where they are grown on clay and limestone slopes. This is a zesty wine with notes of citrus fruits and grass, and a perfect match for grilled fish dishes. waitrose.com
Rioja Crianza Gran Vendema, 2009, Spain, On Offer at £5.99 from £9.99

It is fair to say that Spanish Rioja isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, however this isn’t your average earthy Rioja, it is much brighter. It is made with 100% Tempranillo grapes and aged for 12 months in American oak barrels. In terms of taste, think spiced summer fruits, and on the pallet it is very smooth with a little oak and toasted notes. The finish is a warm and long one, and overall this is a great all rounder. This wine is great with everything from cured meats to Mediterranean cuisine. majestic.co.uk
