When it comes to Maurice Lacroix watches, the Gravity represents a groundbreaking development in horology, as one of the first timepieces to feature an all-silicon contruction. Replacing the timekeeping elements with non-metallic components ultimately provides a superior performance, with these alternatives being lighter than metal, non-magnetic and self-lubricating.

Presented in two models, the Gravity is available in the form of the stainless steel Classical, featuring Roman numerals on the dial, and the Contemporary, made from anthracite PVD and featuring diamond cut indexes, creating a more industrial feel. The key design element within the Maurice Lacroix Gravity is the front-facing escapement, with individual components picked out in different colours. The watch also features an exhibition case back, allowing the viewer to enjoy the self-winding mechanism with Grand Colimaçon shaped Côtes de Genève motif. Other visual elements include a larger white lacquered dial for the hours and minutes. This design choice leads to each model being unique, as Maurice Lacroix allows for subtle variations in the colour of these components that will differ from watch to watch.

Since its inception in 1975, Maurice Lacroix has stood as a progress-led company constantly striving for innovation, and for the past 30 years has proudly produced its timepieces in dedicated watchmaking facilities in Saignelégier. The year 2006, however, saw the brand join an exclusive elite of independent Swiss watch manufacturers with the completion of the ML 106, the first Maurice Lacroix movement to be designed and built entirely in-house, within the state-of-the-art workshops. The Gravity represents the company’s 13th in-house movement with the Automatic Manufacture Calibre ML 230. Utilising the latest in CNC technology, the Maurice Lacroix atelier continues the brand’s devotion to becoming a thought-provoking watchmaker with a passion for invention.
