The World’s Priciest House

The World’s Priciest House

It has been reported that Mukesh Ambani, India’s richest man, has built a $1bn 27-storey building. Named ‘Antilia’ after a mythical island, it towers over swanky Altamount Road in Mumbai. Although Antilia is 27 storeys high, many of the floors are double or triple height, so the building rises to 570 feet, which is equivalent to a 40-storey building. Not that it would hurt Ambani’s wallet who is worth more than $22bn according to Forbes magazine.

Up until now the family has been secretive about the residence, but now a number of facts about the place has shed light on the shear enormity and opulence of the building. Helipads, a vast library, extravagant dining areas, marble floors, mutli-storey garage, a ballroom, a spa, a theatre, guest suites and a number of terraced gardens and even a snow room have been reported. ‘No expense spared’ is the first thing that comes to mind but this entity in particular truly brings new meaning to the phrase.

Apparently the design is based on the lotus and the sun, and is decorated using rare wood, marble, mother-of-pearl and crystal, crafted by Indian artisans.
