The Diary: The Gentleman’s Journal Live Dinner

To celebrate the first day of our long-awaited series of panel discussions, friends of both the magazine and Polestar gathered in the open expanses of Smallbone’s Knightsbridge showroom

As the dust settled on our inaugural Gentleman's Journal Live event, 20 of the publication's closest friends gathered in the cavernous, almost Manhattanish space of Knightsbridge's Smallbone gallery for a hearty celebratory dinner. The evening was intended as a thank you to those who had made the (highly popular and deeply successful) panel series possible — but also a way to gather together some interesting pals who share the values of the talks and of Polestar, the principal partner. Some of the capital's most fascinating entrepreneurs — including Alex Ikonn, David Gandy, Jack Scott, Daisy Knatchbull, Ross Bailey, and Luca Faloni — broke bread together, along with Polestar's Head of Communications Kim Palmer and Harry Jarman from GJ towers. Poised by the long table at all times — as guests devoured crab tortellini and some frighteningly good burrata — was a newly-unveiled Polestar 3, which, by the time the Penfold's cabernet sauvignon had run out, several members of the congregation thought seriously about joyriding into the night. Calmer heads prevailed, of course — though many will already be looking forward to the Live series returning next year. Hurrah!
