The Diary: Gentleman’s Journal Summer Party

Down at Chelsea Barracks, friends, contributors and collaborators gathered in the warm May sunshine...

To Chelsea Barracks last night, where the great and good of West London (and even, I’m told, other compass points) gathered in the warm evening glow and fragrant perfume of the nearby Chelsea Flower Show. This was the Gentleman’s Journal Summer Party — a fairly impromptu affair, like the best of them — but filled, nonetheless, with friendly faces and old collaborators. The venue was a handsome, golden-stoned townhouse in the new Chelsea Barracks development, with its sweeping open plan layout and gorgeous terraced garden — like a good old fashioned house party, only with Nyetimber on tap, Mirabeau rosé in full flow, and some very nifty canapés.

Friends of the magazine included Hero Fiennes-Tiffin, Francis Bourgeois, Freddie Thorp, Cyrill Ibrahim, Joshua Blissett, Eduardo Mozzi, The Flag Twins, Sabrina Percy and Phineas Page, Toby Watkins, George Admiraal, Alan J Smith OBE, Mark Ebulue, Louise and Theo Fennell, Samuel Harwood, and Alex Heerema.,

All in all, a glorious evening, with an atmosphere to rival even the world’s finest flower show — vibrant, colourful, and thoroughly watered.
