The Best Rooftop Bars In London Right Now

Spring has supposedly sprung gentlemen. The weather may still be patchy, but the sunnier intervals are becoming more and more frequent and it’s time to make the most of them. After all, the following day will likely bring archetypal drab and dreary London climes.

There’s no better way to enjoy the beautiful weather than with a fine drink and even finer views, so here are the best rooftop bars you can visit in London right now – weather permitting of course.

Perched on the 10th floor of the ME London, Radio takes its name from the location – it was where the first BBC broadcast was made way back in 1922 and is situated where the aerials once stood. Exclusive, luxurious and naturally pricey, it’s first come first serve, and the dress code is on the smarter side.

The panoramic, almost peerless, views capture the London cityscape in all its glory. Tower Bridge, the Shard, London Bridge, St Paul’s, Tate Modern, Somerset House and the Houses of Parliament, to name but a few, are some of the landmarks to be soaked in from atop the ME.

Sat atop the Trafalgar hotel, Vista places you above the hustle and bustle of Central London below. Small yet stylish, the views from this vantage point are, as expected, breathtaking. Nelson’s Column, Barbican and Big Ben are among the sights to be soaked in as you sip and sun. Reopening for the summer in April, the cocktails come at a premium, but the panorama makes it more than worth it.

The two roof terraces at Aqua Spirit offer talking point views of Mayfair and Soho, but the interior at Aqua is similarly special. The venue’s round bar with a halo of handcrafted charcoal is a stunning tribute to Japanese glamour, as is the overall theme of this luxurious Regent Street locale. With eastern bar snacks and an extensive sake menu, alongside the classic offering of cocktails such as the Singapore Sling and New York Sour.

Regularly pegged as one of the best bars in the capital, the Kensington Roof Gardens at Babylon, owned by Sir Richard Branson, are a unique space and paradise away from the city streets. With not one but three incredible gardens for you to enjoy, the Tudor Garden, Spanish Garden and English Woodland are full of blooming colour, greens, fruit trees and flamingoes for you to bask in whilst consuming cocktails at a leisurely rate.

Sat atop the DoubleTree by Hilton, Skylounge makes the most of the neighbouring surroundings for an impressive view you won’t forget in a hurry. The panoramic doesn’t come cheap, and whilst expansive, the bar has a reputation for bringing in the crowds so you may have to wait to get a spot on the terrace. The potential time spent on the ground is more than worth it when you get to take in the soaring views of the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, the Shard and the central location.
