The only shoes you need this party season
Words: Charlie Thomas
December is creeping up on us and that of course means that the party season is within our midsts. During the final month of the year you’ll likely be invited to more black tie events that at any other period, so you need a well-fitting dinner jacket and a killer pair of shoes. We’ve covered the former and now it’s time to delve into the latter.
Many would advise purchasing a pair of black patent leather oxfords, and while there is no harm in this, they lack a certain charm. You are of course expected to wear them, and this is no bad thing considering they will finish off your evening attire with aplomb. If you want to stand out from the crowd in something equally classic yet far more underused though, a velvet slipper is the way to go. Here are three of the best from english shoemakers, Crockett & Jones.
‘GOLDEN EAGLE’ SLIPPER

Half the joy of wearing a velvet slipper is its regal nature, and this is more-than-apparent in this golden eagle emblazoned example.

‘UNION JACK’ SLIPPER

Represent your nation with this bold, Union Flag themed slipper. With its crimson quilted lining, rich midnight blue hue, and flag-stitched front, it’s perfect for the inner patriarch in you.

PLAIN ALBERT SLIPPER

For something more understated yet no less dapper, this plain Albert slipper is a fine choice. Pair them with a midnight blue dinner suit for a dashing alternative to classic black.
