The Pick: banish the airport blues with this carry-on case
Words: Hamish Roy
Though less readily identifiable than its iconic aluminium cousin, the Rimowa Salsa Air has a lot to give. Made of the same polycarbonate as motorcycle helmets, it’s incredibly tough and impact resistant, making dents and other carousel-induced damage a thing of the past. And in spite of being the lightest case in the Rimowa line-up, the Air skimps on nothing. All of the brand’s hallmarks are in evidence: the trademark grooved shell, fully extendable handle, TSA combination lock and four wheels – the last of these making for an effortless post-flight getaway. The case’s utilitarian features are no small matter either, as unless you fly privately with a team of porters, buying beautiful yet impractical luggage can seem like a poor investment once you’ve had to haul it through a few airports. With the Salsa Air, good looks are matched by intelligent design, making it a case fit for the most frequent flyers.
