The best quiet luxury trainers on the planet
Trainers that we actually approve of
Words: Zak Maoui
No longer the reserve of sportsmen and gym-bunnies, or the go-to uniform of tech-cum-media start-ups, humble trainers have hit the mainstream. And if the pavements of London are anything to go by, then we don’t see them going anywhere anytime soon either.
Having said that, we couldn’t help but notice a few dubious pairs making their unsightly way around town. The good news for the style-conscious among you, however, is that many styles don't speak to the OTT-is-better trend. Below is our edit of the best quiet luxury trainers you can get your feet into right now...
Santoni

Italian label Santoni creates trainers that encompass sporty elegance and artisanal finesse. Crafted from tumbled leather, this minimalist style of trainer is embellished with a gradated leather pull tab detail on the heel, showcasing the brand's age-old expertise in prestigious colouring techniques.
North 89 Court trainers

Made in Portugal by hand, North 89's iteration of a classic court sneaker has sleek lines and athleisure details, while it uses breathable cotton mesh, perforated leather and memory foam insole for maximum comfort.
Tod's Red Dot sneakers

An icon in the Tod's shoe range, the Red Dot sneakers are characterised by an extralight outsole, enhanced by the rubber pebble detailing on the back. The Tod's logo is elegantly stamped on the tongue.
Eton X Tretorn Nylite E/T-1 Suede

A unique meeting between two iconic Swedish brands, these trainers embody the respective brands' nods to collegiate prep and contemporary tailoring. Combining vintage influences with a modern silhouette, the trainers are easy, elegant and sophisticated.
Dries Van Noten sneakers

A cult hit, the Dries Van Noten sneakers are the best trainers a fashion label has done in some time. Streamlined and ultra-chic, they go with just about anything and are a subtle nod to the football-vibing trainer aesthetic we're seeing across the board.
Church's Road trainers

Thought Church's was just about formal shoes? Crafted from high-quality soft Nappa leather with stitching and suede accents, the Road sneaker draws inspiration from the Centre Court at Wimbledon, located on Church Road.
Brunello Cucinelli sneakers

"Quiet luxury" comes in the form of Brunello Cucinelli and the brand's trainers emphasise the tasteful aesthetic. They're crafted from full-grain leather and have tonal laces and subtly contrasting suede trims.
Common Projects trainers

The 'Original Achilles' sneakers have gained cult status thanks to their minimalist design. This white version is versatile and will go with just about anything you wish to wear, from an office suit to a pair of shorts in Portofino.
