Property of the Week – Chalet Husky

Words: Violet

This week’s superior property comes to you from the snowy mountains of the Alps. From an outsider’s view, the timber façade, faded wood finish and hand-carved balconies of Chalet Husky does not differentiate it from much of the other luxury illustrious houses bejewelling the Alpine hills. However, take a step inside and you will find a property destined to begin a new age of absurdly extravagant super-chalets. Situated just three hundred metres from Val d’Isere for all your champagne needs, this brand new build surpasses any you are likely to have seen before. Sprawled over 609 square metres, with seven bedrooms and a 200 square metre living room, dining room and kitchen open-plan space, this place has everything you’d expect from your average £12 million piece. But look a little further and you’ll find the waterfall flowing into the 32 square metre glass-walled swimming pool. A little further still and you’ll see the indoor climbing wall and shooting range (yes, indoor). And if all the swimming and rock climbing gets a bit much, relax in the private spa, which contains a sauna, Jacuzzi, gym and Turkish hammam. Well, you wouldn’t want to have to leave the house would you?

With a vast two-storey indoor atrium garden linked to the first floor by a shining glass walkway, the house contains natural light in abundance, which is surprisingly rare for a large chalet. On top of this, owners can enjoy their own underground parking, with private lift access up to the Husky. With all this well-being and calm, it may be unpalatable to think of leaving, but if the discerning owner does decide to rent out this perfect pile, they could be looking to generate up to £300k during the ski season. Yet another reason to fly up to the Alps and make an offer on this beauty, as if you’ll need any other reason.

What piles this super-chalet with yet more allure is the name behind it. The Chalet, which is currently the largest available in the resort, was built and designed by Jean-Charles Covarel. If you’re not familiar, this mansion-mogul is responsible for more than a few implausibly beautiful homes around Europe, constructing the Val d’Isere home of legendary ski star Jean Claude Killy. With an emphasis on innovative design and wellness, Covarel built Chalet Husky within a small ‘hameau’ of chalets, lending the property a serene separation from the party town. He also fitted the chalet with iPads in each room and an automatic heating and lighting system. The rear of the house can also be accessed via the famous slopes, so don’t expect to be lugging your poles around or waiting in any queues after purchasing this property.

With a plethora of living and entertaining space (including a expansive private bar), Chalet Husky takes the term ‘Apres Ski’ to a whole new level, combining visually stunning interiors with every gadget and high-tech feature one could dream up to make this your personal mountain-top playground.
