For Prince William, Luca Faloni is that brand

Prince William has been seen on countless occasions wearing Luca Faloni, whether during a visit to Pakistan in 2019, or for an official family photoshoot

Words: Zak Maoui

What does a future king wear when he's not attending to royal duties? Well, for our very own Prince William, there are a few brands that are his go-tos, serving for a well-put-together wardrobe. Whether he’s attending a black-tie charity gala or on tour in Jamaica, the Prince of Wales always has his outfits on lock, and most of the time he's wearing garments from the likes of Gieves & Hawkes, Omega, Purified and LGR.

But there's one brand that takes centre stage. Luca Faloni, the designer's eponymous brand, has caught the attention of a host of celebrities (Cillian Murphy, Tom Cruise, Charles Leclerc, Colin Firth and David Beckham, to name a few), but none are such fans as Prince William.

Known for its slick separates, such as its linen shirts and winter knits, the brand does what it does extremely well: excellent craft, timeless styles and easy-to-wear design. And there have been multiple public occasions when HRH has worn Luca Faloni, and thankfully been photographed in it. Below we've given you a quick tour of where and when he's worn the brand.

Pakistan 2019

On an official royal tour of Pakistan in 2019, Prince William wore not one, but two of the brand's Portofino shirts. Loose-fitting and made from 100 per cent Italian linen, it's the sort of thing you need to beat the heat. It's the jewel in the crown of the British brand, and each shirt is crafted in Bergamo and Brescia, in Northern Italy, by skilled artisans who use a single piece of cloth to create a simple collared shirt. William's shirts came in two iterations: Safari Green and Sage Green.

Royal Family Christmas postcard, 2020

For the annual Christmas card Prince William wore one of Luca Faloni's signature knits, which is cut from 100 per cent A-grade four-ply cashmere and knitted in Northern Italy. Ideal for the cooler climes, it has a ribbed chunky knit finish and a relaxed fit for the low-key days of comfort.

Kingston, Jamaica, 2022

In Kingston, Prince William wore another Portofino linen shirt. This time, his shirt was dyed a Sky Blue colourway and again carried the sweat-wicking properties of the previous linen shirts he has favoured.

Mayan sites, Belize, 2022

In Belize, where temperatures average at 26 degrees celsius on the best of days, linen is a good idea. And it was here that Prince William sported another Portofino shirt (spotted the oversees trend in William's wardrobe?), this time in Navy Blue.
