, David Gandy is a supermodel, a style icon, a fitness guru and a British Vogue contributor. He has raised money for victims of the Haitian earthquake, for Oxfam and for Battersea Dogs and Cats home. He has dated Mollie King, Sarah Ann Macklin and Samantha Barks. In short, he is quite a man.
But the thing we most look up to him for? His love of speed. David Gandy got his racing licence in 2012 and has been trained by Mazda and Jaguar. He (alongside co-drive Yasmin Le Bon – oh to have been a fly on the wall inside that car!) competed in the Mille Miglia race in Italy this year, and despite being pushed off the road by a competitor and sustaining damage to the 1950 Jagaur XK120 they were driving, didn’t do too badly at all.
Now he’s made a film with Jaguar, and it’s one of the best things that The Gentleman’s Journal has seen for a while. It combines two wonderful brands – Jaguar and Gandy himself – in a way that is sophisticated, modern and robust. The film sees Gandy driving around the British countryside in a series of iconic, historical Jaguars. Never have we wanted to jump up from our desks and embark on a spontaneous road trip so much.
“Driving is a form of meditation,” he says. Mr Gandy: we salute you.
