5 ways to look great on a budget
Words: India Gladstone
There’s a common misconception when it comes to dressing like a gentleman – that you have to break the bank to do so. This is absolutely not true, and some of the best-dressed gentlemen we know have achieved their sartorial sophistication on a budget. The trick is buy the right clothes from the right brands that won’t look – dare we say it – cheap, and here’s how.
Evening
A particularly important outfit at this time of year; the clothes you wear to smart evening events are essential to get right. Once you’ve nailed the basics, you can slot in any accessory you so please. While we recommend that every gentleman invests in one tailor-made suit and jacket in his life, there’s absolutely no point in doing this until you have the money.

Reiss blazer, £275, Reiss trousers, £115, Gant shirt, £80, Ted Baker tie, £55, Office shoes, £120
Casual
There’s no excuse with this one: every gentleman should know how to dress properly for the more casual occasions in his life, and sorting out this section of your wardrobe can be very easily done on a budget – here’s how.

Work
Every gent needs a suitable work uniform; something for rushed early mornings that he can throw on without really thinking about it. If you’re lucky enough to not have to wear a suit everyday, there’s room for experimentation and changing it up.

Weekend
Every working gent needs a failsafe weekend wardrobe to get him through the hangovers without much thought. Now’s your chance to be casual, yes, but also to mix it up a bit – and with affordable items like these, you can definitely do that.
