The end of last week marked the opening of the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and the opening of OMEGA HOUSE begun with two spectacular events that attracted many renowned VIPs and invited guests.
OMEGA has been the Official Timekeeper for the Olympic Games for 27 year and since 1932, and this year is proudly celebrating the Olympics from its unique location on Ipanema Beach. Throughout the Olympic Games, the iconic Swiss watch brand will host many unmissable evenings for invited guests and the destination is sure to become one of the best Rio hotspots this month.
On Saturday, August 6th, OMEGA brand ambassador and Oscar-winning actor, Eddie Redmayne, was the guest of honour at the Opening Night of OMEGA HOUSE in Rio De Janeiro. This was the first time that OMEGA HOUSE was officially open for the first time, and it surpassed all expectations, looking truly spectacular for its debut.
Enhancing the glamour of the evening, the Opening Night of OMEGA HOUSE was also attended by several notable guests including His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco; legendary Brazilian sailor and OMEGA friend, Torben Grael; Brazilian designer Francisco Costa; and American actress Camilla Belle.
They shared the red carpet with Eddie, who said, “I was told that OMEGA HOUSE was going to be breath-taking and it is. It’s going to be a great place to people-watch and hopefully see if I can spot a few Olympians. It’s Heaven.”
President and CEO of OMEGA, Raynald Aeschlimann, was thrilled to see the launch of OMEGA HOUSE embraced with such enthusiasm. He said, “This House means a lot to us. A lot of passion and spirit has gone into making OMEGA HOUSE a wonderful destination for the Olympic Games and the perfect place to celebrate our role as Official Timekeeper, which is such an important part of our brand.”
The glamour didn’t stop there, however, and on Sunday night OMEGA HOUSE was transformed again for the “Gold Night” celebration with special guest, Brazilian model and actress, Alessandra Ambrosio.
As a fan of OMEGA, Alessandra celebrated the theme of the evening by wearing a 43mm 18k red gold Seamaster Aqua Terra with a grey dial. Her appearance certainly drew a crowd of Rio’s most young and dynamic socialites.
Some of OMEGA’s finest gold watches were on display around OMEGA HOUSE. They could be seen within the elegantly created setting that featured large golden spheres, a black carpet with gold dust and a gold-themed menu.
OMEGA HOUSE is located inside Casa de Cultura Laura Alvim on Ipanema Beach. With views out across the sand and palm trees, the interior of the members-only club has been created around the pillars of the OMEGA brand. Guests are able to step foot into uniquely themed rooms dedicated to sports timekeeping, space exploration, ocean heritage, ladies’ timepieces and watchmaking innovation. A number of other special events are scheduled throughout the iconic sporting event.

Eddie Redmayne wore Prada for an exclusive OMEGA HOUSE tour earlier in the day. In the evening, he wore a white Hardy Amies suit, while his wife Hannah looked spectacular in McQueen. Camilla Belle wore Carolina Herrera. Alessandra Ambrosio wore MISHA with an 18k red gold OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra watch. She also wore a stunning pair of golden Casadei shoes.
