Why you need to escape the city this weekend

This is why Alfa Romeo are encouraging you to live out your dreams every weekend, rather than staying cooped up in the city.

As a teenager, I used to frequent the small costal town Polzeath, Cornwall, in the summer school holidays. After some years, too many that I wish to mention, I took a long weekend with friends to the stay in the nearby village of Rock. Nestled in the Camel Estuary, Rock is a charming place to stay for a couple of days, and within a few miles presents all those things you could want from a long weekend out of the city, to get away from it all.

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to drive the stunning Alfa Giulietta, a car that made the long drive smoother and quicker, and one that has redefined style through its impeccable sporty detailing and elegance throughout. My whole weekend was made even more incredible by driving around this beauty, something that I would whole-heartedly recommend to everyone.

The Camel Estuary in Cornwall

Paddle boarding and canoeing across the Camel Estuary. Paddle boarding is all the rage, combining great fitness with a lot of fun and a great way to see the coastline.

Rent yourself a ‘foamie’ and hit the wave for a couple of hours of surfing. This will be enough to rid any hangover, and build an appetite to enjoy a good meal afterwards.

Take the short ride across to Padstow on the foot passenger ferry, and enjoy fish and chips at the world famous Rick Stein restaurant.

Whilst in Cornwall, one must always indulge in the local specialities, namely pasties and cream teas (first buttered, then strawberry jam, then clotted cream)

Daymer Bay, Polzeath

Take in the beautiful Daymer Bay, at sunset, and light a fire and enjoy a BBQ under the stars, and pretend you are a teenager once again for a few hours.

Head to the St Kew Inn for great traditional food and local real ales. On top of this, the cosy and atmospheric pub also pays host to a small band of local musicians who play from one of the tables. Be ready to dance the evening away until the bell for last orders.

The Minack Archive in Cornwall

Head to the world-famous outdoor theatre, Minack Theatre, and you may even glimpse dolphins providing the backdrop.

Alfa Romeo encourage you to live out your dreams and follow your passion. Watch their video and visit the website here.
