There’s just something about summer holidays that gets everyone a little, shall we say, hot under the collar. Temperatures rise and so does sex appeal – it’s a fact. Good news for those of you who are single too. In colder months women want commitment, they want cuddles by fires and romantic walks through the park. In the summer though, they want passion, they want holiday romances, summer flings, rosé by the bottle and fun and frivolity all around. So make the most of the summer months and the effect it seems to have on both genders and ensure you’re at the top of your attraction game come holiday time. Here, we tell you 5 ways to make yourself more attractive to women on holiday…
1. UP THE ETIQUETTE, Whether you’re trying to be more attractive to your girlfriend, or you’re single and looking for a summer romance, then you need to up your etiquette game on holiday. Assuming you’re somewhere hot she’s going to need water, suncream and the odd cocktail here and there. Don’t be overbearing (or worse, creepy), but offering to help apply sunscreen to her back (with a subtle massage thrown in for extra appeal), getting her iced water or asking to make or buy her a cocktail is going to amp up the attraction levels like never before.
2. COMMAND THE SITUATION, We’ve said it time and time again, but there really is nothing more attractive to women than a man who takes charge of a situation. So be that man. Be the one who suggests spending a day at the beach club, leads the midnight skinny-dipping, gets the game of beach volley ball started (equally a great way to approach woman you don’t know), be the one who orders the magnum of rosé, takes control of the iPod at the pool party and starts the dancing in the courtyard under the stars… you get the picture, but trust us on this one. This is the one that she wants.
3. KEEP UP APPEARANCES, Summer holidays can bring out the best in men, we’re talking tanned skin, salt-styled beach hair and (hopefully) toned bodies, but it can also bring out the very worst. Here’s looking at you, dodgy tan lines, greasy hair, sunburn and the very worst, peeling skin. So be sensible, you’re a grown man not a child who doesn’t understand the effects of sun. If you do lack the basic ability to apply suncream, ask a friend to do it for you. If your hair has a mind of its own come the holiday season then invest in appropriate products and if you feel yourself working up a sweat then for god’s sake remember your old friend deodorant and his close companion, aftershave. (Tom Ford Costa Azzurra is the perfect summer scent for men – woman simply can’t resist it. Fact.)
4. STAY STYLISH, In our opinion, summer style for men – especially when on holiday – couldn’t be easier to get right, yet so many still seem to get it oh so very wrong. Think simple, riviera style as your go-to; a pair of stylish swim shorts, some classic sunglasses such as Persol 649s or Oliver Peoples Gregory Pecks, a selection of linen shirts in pastel hues (look to dundaslondon.com for some of the best on the market) and a pair of good espadrilles – done. Women love a well-dressed man, and if that man is wandering pool-side in a loosely unbuttoned blue linen shirt over tanned skin, well it just doesn’t get more attractive than that gents. So leave the ropey t-shirts, bucket hats and novelty pink wayfarers at home or burn them, your choice.
5. RELAX… YOU’RE ON HOLIDAY, Whether you’re an uptight businessman or highly strung city boy, your summer holiday is your time to relax. So unwind, turn off your roaming, and for God’s sake enjoy yourself. If you’re pacing the pool making deals with partners in China or can’t sit still because you’ve genuinely forgotten how to relax, then you can kiss goodbye to any holiday romance. Yes, women like powerful, driven men, but they definitely don’t like uptight, agitated ones who don’t know how to relax and let loose. So sit back, grab an ice-cold beer and show everyone around you just how happy you are to be there – you’ll find yourself in holiday romance in no time.
