It’s fair to say that, unless you happen to be the CEO of Zoom, 2020 hasn’t exactly been one for the ages. Crafted from a blend of 40% pinot noir, 40% chardonnay and 20% pinot meunier, every bottle of Louis Roederer Brut Premier is aged for more than three years to produce that distinctive fresh yet structured flavour. Of course, much of the finished result relies on the quality of Louis Roederer’s vines and the Maison is accordingly leading the way in sustainable Champagne production. And, if there’s anything 2020’s staycations have taught us, it’s the beauty and sanctity of the nature in our back yards.
For Louis Roederer this means constantly keeping its finger on the pulse of the vineyards, monitoring changes and acting accordingly to create the best conditions for both the grapes and the local flora and fauna. The house is a pioneer in organic farming in the region and strives to work with, not against, the evolving conditions of the Champagne region to produce the most ethical and delicious product possible. We’ve tried the end result and can confirm the house is doing a fine job.
