On Wednesday evening, at the West Sussex venue of Cowdray House, luxury bookmakers Fitzdares unveiled their list of 35 most influential young people in the racing world.
Among those on the list were jockeys including William Buick, Josephine Gordon and Yuga Kawada – who rode his first winner in Britain at Redcar on the morning of the event. Elextra Niarchos and The Duke of Sussex also featured.

At the Cowdray House event, Patrick Grant and Jake Greenall were seen trying their luck on the bucking bronco on the croquet lawn at the beginning of the evening.
When it came to eat, guests at the event enjoyed canapes including Cowdray rare beef steak tartare, Cowdray organic vegetable Thai dipping rolls, English Burrata and crudités with Goodwood Molecomb Blue fondue and Champagne on the terrace before dining on Cromer Crab salad and Sussex Chicken Tagine.

“We worked from a shortlist of over 80 and our judging panel had huge difficulties whittling down the list to 35,” said Balthazar Fabricius, founder of Fitzdares. “In the end we decided to group two brothers and two business partners together, just to squeeze the most out of it.

“The committee,” he continues, which included broadcaster Nick Luck, Horse Racing Ireland’s Amber Byrne, and Minty Farquhar of Great British Racing International, “left off a few obvious stars as they were committed to finding a diverse and up-and-coming group that reflected every element of the international racing world, from training, riding, owning, writing and broadcasting.”
