Kristian Haagen's top 8 watches of 2025

Scandinavia's leading watch specialist Kristian Haagen talks us through his favourite new timepieces

Kristian Haagen has been collecting watches for over 30 years, but despite his status as an industry insider, the Danish watch specialist never fails to feel a flurry of excitement at certain new releases. Here are eight of his favourite watches that have launched this year.

IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40

"I must admit the IWC Ingenieur “Sonny Hayes” Edition took me by surprise. Looks so-so on paper, but so sexy on the wrist. That green dial has a certain oomph to it."

Urban Jürgensen UJ-1, UJ-2 and UJ-3

"The relaunch of Urban Jürgensen did not pass my attention. As a Dane, I love the pedigree and having met the new owners in Los Angeles – and Kari Voutilainen, who creates the watches for the UJS brand – I know that this precious brand from 1773 is in very, very good hands."

Chopard L.U.C Quattro Mark IV

"The Chopard L.U.C Quattro in platinum with that icy blue dial is to die for. Once on my wrist, I've never stopped lusting for this spectacular iteration of an already drool-worthy watch."

Grand Seiko Tentagraph SLGC009

"The Grand Seiko Tentagraph, featuring the Tokyo Lion design, a brown rubber strap, and a matching textured dial, is a stunning watch. Yes, its size of 43mm and 15.6mm thickness interferes with the current trend of smaller watches, but this one is absolutely worth the extra millimetres. Trust me on this!"

Hautlence Retrovision ’85

"The Hautlence Retrovision ’85 is one of the most exciting launches of 2025. Resembling a childhood robot, the Retrovision ’85 transforms into a watch in the playful spirit we’ve come to expect from the Swiss brand. Sure, you can wear it on your wrist – but you can also carry it in your pocket or use it as a table clock by attaching it to a foot stand. Who said Swiss watch-making couldn't be fun, eh?!"

Piaget Andy Warhol Watch

"Piaget launched a dead-sexy Andy Warhol-inspired watch with a green meteorite dial. The stepped case and that dial combined make me want to go back in time and party with Warhol at Studio 54, rocking this piece all night!"

Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute

"I never knew how good a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso would look with a Milanese bracelet, but the esteemed Maison launched just that this year – and it feels as good on the wrist as it pleases the eye. It’s also inspired me to get a steel Milanese bracelet for my own Tribute to 1931 Reverso."

Omega Seamaster Railmaster 38mm

"Omega came in strong with an updated 38mm version of their Railmaster. I'm especially taken with the beige dial featuring a black gradient, which pairs perfectly with the simple yet rugged brown calf leather strap. Throw on your Barbour jacket, Wellington boots, and fire up your old Defender – this is the timepiece that completes the look. They feel like they were made for each other."
