Introducing dunhill’s Hampstead and Duke ‘Black’ collections
From totes and pouches to rucksacks and document cases, these are the British brand’s newest accessory offerings
Words: Gentleman's Journal
In Walthamstow, an assuming area of North London, lies dunhill’s leather accessories nerve centre. A paean to the art of considered craft, skilled artisans labour intensely throughout the working day to create the weekend bags, briefcases, wallets, document holders and other gentlemanly accoutrements that make up the exception accessories roster of this Great British brand.
This season, from the rolls of bridle leather, lambskin and oak-bark leather that drape languidly from shelving in the workshop, come two new accessory collections: The Hampstead and The Duke. Here, we explore these two new ranges, and pick our favourite pieces.

Perfectly designed with contemporary lines and slim-line proportions, the lightweight Hampstead collection is the epitome of minimal sophistication. Made from luxurious cowhide, the durable leather bags each have an individual patina thanks to the new black colourway, which is complimented by the inside soft, cotton lining.
With exclusive fixtures constructed from a zinc alloy and plated in palladium, the offerings in this collection include a Single Document Case, North South Tote, North South Pouch and Rucksack.

Again in the new black colour way, the four styles in the Duke collection include a Small Zip Tote, Audley Tote, Flap Briefcase and Folio with Lock. Crafted from calfskin, the depth of colour has been achieved through the use of vegetable and chrome tanning, which provides the same protective patina as seen in the Hampstead collection.
The signature hardware is plated with an alloy of gold and black ruthernium, which i inspired by an archive dunhill pocket watch – the sort the brand used to produce in the 1930s, which have achieved retro status today.
