From sunny Bordeaux to the star-studded Riviera — follow us every step of the way...

The Cannes Film Festival is surely the height of opulence and luxury. At the most sparkling point of the Riviera, cinema’s good and great descend on 5-star hotels and luxury villas to socialise and party the long nights away.

Of course, the event itself is only half the fun. Like everything in life, the journey brings most of the excitement — and that’s why Gentleman’s Journal decided to arrive in style. To do so, we decided to take a handful of Britain’s best influencers and three shining Rolls Royces all the way from the sunny backroads of Bordeaux all the way to a party in the harbour of Cannes, with a little help from brand friends Grey Goose and Chopard.

For a town where the paparazzi outnumber the local population, it was the perfect entrance.

And, despite a winning dinner in Cannes, and an afterparty rubbing shoulders with actors such as James Norton and Gentleman’s Journal cover star Christoph Waltz, we had our fair share of adventure along the way. We stopped off at some magnificent chateaus, tasted local delicacies and took advantage of the local hospitality.

The first stop on the road trip, after arriving into a stunning Bordeaux by private jet, was the incredible Le Logis — where we enjoyed an oyster and caviar tasting hosted by the wonderful flavour masters at Grey Goose.

After this delectable event, we had an overnight stay at La Vue. After breakfast the following morning, we travelled to the Chateau De Mercues for lunch — with a spot of swimming and spa treatments.

A short trip to Chateaux Le Labro followed, where the road trip team enjoyed a light dinner, drinks and an overnight stay.

Awakening on the final day of our road trip, we made our way to the glorious Hôtel Crillon Le Brave, a luxury hotel in Provence with views for miles and a pool from which to enjoy them. Here, we enjoyed a light lunch before the evening celebrations started — in earnest.

From here, the Rolls Royce convoy made its way to the Cote D’Azur’s Chateau Saint Martin, before heading on to our luxury dinner on board the Superyacht Mischief.

In the main harbour at Cannes, the black tie party began — a warm up for the main celebrations that would take place later that night.

Gentleman’s Journal arrived at the Cannes Film Festival in style as we stepped off the yacht and made our way to the Hotel Martinez, where the Chopard Gentleman’s Party was in full swing on the historic rooftop terrace.

Stars of the festival’s biggest premieres joined us for a few Grey Goose Martinis and a lot of laughs as the evening progressed — a suitably stylish end to our luxury summer road trip.
