The gentlemen you need to follow during LC:M
Words: India Gladstone
London Collections: Men, for those gentlemen who don’t already know, is a glorious occasion that comes around twice a year, when some of the best fashion brands in the world showcase their seasonal designs. Over the past 5 years, LC:M has gone from being one day off the back of (women’s only) London Fashion Week to running as its own entity bi-annually from Friday to Monday. London, as a result, is often hailed as the menswear fashion capital of the world and is therefore a pretty important occasion to follow.
Adam Katz Sinding
Adam is the founder of Le 21ème, a website that documents weird and wonderful street style all around the world – although Adam himself refuses to call it a street style blog. Alongside another 434k people on Instagram alone, he’s one of our favourite gentlemen to follow over LC:M, because of the realness of the images that he takes – they genuinely make us want to be in his shoes, which we can’t always say for a lot of street style bloggers. On why you should be following his account, Adam says:
“This is not a “Street Style Blog”! Sure, you may look at my photos and say “C’mon man, cut the crap, of course it is” and sure, you’d be right. I shoot people on the street, so yes, it falls into the genre. However, my goal is to show not what you should wear or how you should wear it. My job is to show you what it feels like to be outside of the Grand Palais after Chanel. To show you how miserable the rain was outside of Gucci on Via Valtellina. How beautiful the setting was at Ellery in Sydney. I don’t want you to look at my photos and say, “I want to be her” or “where can I get those shoes!?” I want you to look at my photos and say, “wow, what a moment” or “wow, who’s that girl, look at the wind blowing her hair across her face”. Perhaps in this consumerist world I’m setting myself up for failure, but I’m here to try to make you think about how it felt to be where I was at the moment I shot the image. To make you look a bit deeper beyond the superficial. Have a look!”

The Gentleman Blogger
Matthew Zorpas is the gentleman behind the aspirational blog The Gentleman Blogger. Zorpas creates content that focuses on the finer things in life, whether it’s new places to travel, new fashion brands to try or the best restaurant to visit. He’s the type of gentleman who you want to be at LC:M (and any other fashion show, for that matter); he’s always at the best fashion shows and the most incredible parties.
“At the heart of my Instagram is informative and inspirational images on everything a knowledge-seeking gentleman requires and desires to live a rich lifestyle with attention to detail. It is my goal to make sure the reader is educated, inspired and presented with unique and original content, assisting individuals on their prolific journey. It demonstrates how a modern gentleman’s life is led and guide him to visit places that he hasn’t been before, to taste something different or wear something that they never had the courage to wear. It is a carefully curated version of my best self. As I head into a whirlwind month of fashion shows, fairs and presentations, from LC:M to Pitti, to Milano Moda Uomo, SIHH Geneva and Paris, I’ve got a whole lot on my agenda besides simply taking in the best looks from the fall, resort and summer collections to the streets. For LC:M, I look forward seeing Coach, Hardy Amies and Xander Zhou. They are surprisingly energetic and buoyant.”

The Sartorialist
No list such as this will be complete without mentioning Scott Schuman, the genius behind the world-renowned street style and fashion blog The Sartorialist. Schuman has become an icon and one of the most sought-after gentlemen to be photographed by since he founded The Sartorialist over 10 years ago, and if that’s not a good enough reason to follow him, we don’t know what is. Schuman is guaranteed to bring you some of the most fascinating shots from LC:M, and has a serious art for capturing some of the most dapper gentlemen on the street.

Garçon Jon
Jonathan Daniel Pryce is the man behind the lens who creates some of the best street style shots in the industry, showcased on his website Garçon Jon. Pryce is London based, so you’ll be seeing LC:M from a gentleman who lives here and who knows the ropes, which is definitely a bonus. You can expect to see stunning cityscapes, the best-dressed gentlemen of the weekend and the inside of some of LC:M’s most glamorous shows and parties.
“The London segments of the month-long menswear season is always my favourite. It’s the premier showcase, meaning the atmosphere is fresh and optimising. This can be felt not only on the streets but also in the collections where designers are creating cutting edge, engaging menswear like no other city. I particularly love what Patrick Grant is doing at E Tautz, but also young London designers like Bartmans and Siegel and Craig Green.
As I mainly shoot street style and backstage I feel I’m in a privileged position as I get a glimpse of the action before everyone else. I get the feeling people enjoy following my Instagram over London Collections due to this and also the diversity of my interests. I love all aspects of the show season, the shows themselves, the stylish attendees, the incredible architecture and locations of each city and even the baffled passers by. Hopefully you get a true glimpse of what it’s like to participate in the spectacle that is fashion week.”

Jimmy Launay
Behind the scenes shots can often be some of the most interesting ones taken at fashion shows because of the realness of the imagery and the undeniable sense that you’re actually experiencing what the person taking the photos is experiencing. Step in Jimmy Launay, one of the most sought-after models in London and a gentlemen who will be very much present over the course of LC:M.
“If you think that fashion isn’t about the price of your clothes but the way you wear them, we should have a drink. My journey in the fashion industry is more about adventures and friends than red carpet and champagne. I relate my daily life, my mood (bad or good) and my thoughts on the backgrounds of whisky and cigarettes through my Instagram account. We are at the dawn of one of the most exciting fashion moments of the year, LC:M. If you want to see what really happens behind the light, join my journey.”
