Enjoy a taste of la dolce vita at Belmond Villa San Michele

Live out your Italian dream in this secluded 15th Century haven

Set on rolling Tuscan hills and steeped in history, Belmond Villa San Michele is a haven where Renaissance grandeur meets contemporary artistry.

The 15th Century monastery is the perfect base from which to explore Florence, and offers panoramic views across the Arno valley. Take a trip to this exquisite, dreamlike hotel and we have a feeling that you’ll never want to come back down to earth.

Limonaia Suite with its private garden and plunge pool

Dining at the hotel’s romantic La Loggia Restaurant is an unforgettable highlight, while secrets of Italian cuisine can be gleaned at Belmond Villa San Michele’s renowned Cookery School. Savour superb Tuscan cuisine on the alfresco loggia as if in a private home.

Our personal dinner recommendation is the Tuscan spaghettone with salted anchovy fillets and tomato fondue. Be sure to also take advantage of the incredibly knowledgeable sommelier, Danilo Fantini, and choose from a perfectly selected wine list (a particular mention should be given here to the Sassicaia super Tuscan, which went down dangerously well).

Take a stroll through the lemon trees of the immaculate Tuscan gardens, once nurtured by Franciscan monks, which have retained their meditative calm and provide the perfect spot to relax on a lounger as you sip on a well-deserved cocktail. If you have the time, ask to be taken through the extraordinary history of the works of art which can be found at every turn and are a delightful fusion of the contemporary and the historic.
