This week, we’ve woken up and smelt the perfume. From Creed’s latest cologne to Richard E. Grant’s own fragrance range, our Editor’s Picks have been spritzed heavily this week with the best scents on the market.
Of course, that’s not all. Elsewhere, you’ll find a limited edition Aston Martin, titanium Richard Mille and an exclusive print of an off-duty Samuel L Jackson. Take a look.

Spritz on: Creed Aventus Cologne
Creed are bold with their fragrances — and this new Aventus Cologne is no different. Ideal for the daring and urban-spirited, spritz on and expect an aromatic burst of ginger, mandarin and pink peppercorn, bolstered by a leathery balsamic base. A modern classic with a rebellious twist, it’s the latest success in the perfume house’s 260-year history.

Summer time: Stitched The Harry’s Navy Cotton Shorts
Good shorts can be hard to come by. Wake up and smell the perfume: Histoires De Parfum 1740 Aftershave
The second scent to get our nostrils twitching this week is the 1740 from Histoires De Parfum. Described as ‘truly unflinching’, this is a fragrance for the modern hedonist and stirs together the intoxicating scents of bergamot, prune, cardamom and leather. Spritz on before a heady, balmy summer night’s party for full effect.

Tick-tock: Richard Mille RM 67-01 Extra Flat
A ‘lifestyle’ model from the storied watchmaker, Richard Mille’s latest is an incredibly flat automatic with extreme use of skeletonisation.
Thanks to this design quirk, we still get the sense of visual depth central to the brand’s distinctive aesthetic, but with a new, exciting spin on the mechanics within the case. It’s a different direction from Richard Mille, but one we’re certainly going to follow.

The King of Cool: Unseen Art Samuel L Jackson Film Strip
When we interviewed Samuel L Jackson for Gentleman’s Journal, we were struck by his unshakeable sense of cool. But that’s not to say it isn’t nice to see one of the world’s most suave, celebrated actors goofing around.
In this exclusive print by Andy Gotts, Jackson can be seen pulling faces and having fun — an uncharacteristic glimpse of the stoic man, and one that typifies Gotts’ Unseen 100 series.

Summer in the city: Jack Piccadilly ’69 Aftershave
Richard E Grant’s obsession with scent has served us well. From candles to aftershaves, the actor’s ‘Jack’ brand is one of our favourites — and available now in the Gentleman’s Journal Burlington Arcade store.
This particular fragrance was inspired by the first time Grant emerged from Piccadilly Circus tube station, encountering ‘Patchouli perfumed hippies and Earl Grey Tea at Fortnum and Mason’.
