Well, James Bond would have had quite a week. Not only did Aston Martin put into production those gadget-laden Goldfinger DB5 Continuation cars it promised us a couple of years ago, but there’s also been a whole host of other new releases that would likely have turned the superspy’s head.
The Whisky Exchange has unveiled a ‘Martini Exploration Set’ so exotic it would make your mouth water. Tiffany has gone all-in with a bright blue, leather-trimmed travel poker set. And we’ve also happened upon a couple of water toys — a 4K drone sub and a jet surfboard — that 007 would be positively itching to take to the warm waters of his favourite Caribbean haunt, Jamaica. Take a look.
Button it: Asket Overshirt
We’ve known that overshirts were essentials for quite some time. But ASKET, a Scandi brand known for creating style staples and nothing else, has only just cottoned on — literally. Straight cut, with three classic front pockets and tailored from 100 percent organic cotton twill, the overshirt is now officially an essential. But you’d better act fast; there’ll only be 900 of these new lightweight jackets released.
Take it easy: OTO CBD Bitters
You’ve got your classic Angostura Bitters in the cupboard, and maybe a bottle of orange or anise-tinged Peychaud’s if you’ve been feeling adventurous. But we’ll do you one better. From OTO, this spritz is CBD bitters, and has been designed to amplify tonics and juices, as well as cocktails. Herbaceous and floral, if your nightly Old Fashioned didn’t relax you before, it certainly will now.
Anchors away: Riva 88’ Folgore
As splendid and dazzling as its name implies, the new Riva 88’ Folgore — that means ‘thunderbolt’ for those of you who didn’t study Italian — is the latest reliably stylish launch from Riva. Revealed last week, the new design features lines and elements inspired by the automotive world — and has cabins crafted from wood, steel and marble.
Buckle up: Hublot Big Bang e Black Ceramic Smartwatch
Transferring its traditional expertise into a new digital environment, Hublot has revealed the much-anticipated Big Bang e ceramic connected watch. And you get a lot of watch for your wallet; including interpretations of traditional timepiece functions such as a perpetual calendar with an immaculately precise moon phase, and a second GMT time zone — complete with an uber-realistic depiction of the earth.
Rising waves: Yujet Surfer Electric Surfboard
Okay, so it’s not a jet board officially — but it’s just as exciting as one. Yujet’s ultimate water toy actually runs on an energy-efficient lithium battery, and will give you 40 minutes of easy cruising when fully charged. That’s a range of about 16 miles at a top speed of 24mph — plenty of scope to find the best surf.
Deal me in: Tiffany Leather-Trimmed Travel Poker Set
In Diamonds are Forever, Bond gets mixed up with a blackjack dealer at The Tiara, a Las Vegas casino. Her name? Tiffany Case. Cast your mind back to the heady summer of 2018. It was a tricky time for 007. Danny Boyle had just dropped out of No Time To Die and fans were floundering. Thankfully, the superspy’s favourite wheels were on hand to perk everyone up. Aston Martin announced that it would create 25 Goldfinger DB5 continuation cars — and production finally began this week. In Silver Birch paint and costing you £2.75 million, they are the ultimate gadget-laden collector’s item — down to the revolving number plates.
