Che bello! We’re jetting off to Italy for this week’s Editor’s Picks, sunning ourselves on the shores of the Mediterranean nation and checking out some of the sun-soaked country’s most stylish, sophisticated new releases.
There’s a pair of chunky-soled ankle boots from luxury fashion house Tod’s, complete with the brand’s iconic rubber pebble soles. We’ve rolled out a new Ducati, created in collaboration with supercar maestros Lamborghini, for extra fiery Italian passion. On thin ice: Grand Seiko ‘Snowscape’ Wristwatch
From the windows of Grand Seiko’s Shizukuishi-based watchmaking studio, the well-trained craftsmen can gaze out upon the snowscape of Mount Iwate — the tallest peak in the prefecture. This latest addition to the brand’s Heritage Collection features a textured dial inspired by the mountain, and has a case crafted from ‘Ever Brilliant Steel’.
Italian stallion: Ducati Streetfighter V4 ‘Lamborghini Speciale Clienti’
This distinctive special-edition motorcycle is a true Italian export. A two-wheeled, high-octane collaboration between Ducati and Lamborghini, only 63 of these V4-engined, 205 horsepower bikes will be made — and only offered to customers who already own a Lamborghini Huracán STO.
High-stepping: Tod’s ‘W.G.’ Lace-Up Ankle Boots
These latest lace-ups from Italian fashion house Tod’s have the most striking silhouette of any shoes we’ve seen all season. Chunky yet considered, the ankle boots are crafted from suede, feature a warm wool lining for the colder days ahead — and are enhanced with the brand’s iconic rubber pebbles on the sole and heel.
Time travel: Bennett Winch ‘Triple Watch Roll’
From the luggage-making maestros over at Bennett Winch, this hexagonal Tuscan leather watch roll is moulded to a hardy Kevlar lining and secured by three sturdy solid brass poppers. Lined with olive-coloured Alcantara, it will make your timepieces feel safer, snugger and more secure than ever before.
Frame job: Curry & Paxton ‘Alex’ Sunglasses
Summer may be drawing to an end, but that doesn’t mean your sunglasses should be stashed away just yet — especially if they’re as elegant and eye-catching as these ‘Alex’ frames from Curry & Paxton. Cut from delicious, caramel-toned acetate, the design has a keyhole bridge and the brand’s signature three-dot logo on the tips of its earpieces.
Changing lanes: Koenigsegg CC850 Hypercar
Entrepreneur and engineer Christian von Koenigsegg started-up his hypercar brand 28 years ago. This month, to celebrate his own 50th birthday, the carmaker has unveiled the ‘CC850’ — a tribute to the first ever Koenigsegg (the ‘CC8S’) with similar dehidral ‘Synchro-Helix’ doors and both front and rear clamshells as the original.
Raise a glass: Chapel Down Brut NV Sparkling Wine
With British bottles bubbling to the top of the sparkling wine pile, we’ve spent our summers sampling some of the finest bruts on offer. Chapel Down’s effort is an enchanting option; a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Blanc grapes that gives off aromas of red apple, lemongrass and freshly baked bread.
Light up: Leica ‘Cine 1’ Laser Projector
Leica may principally be known for capturing images, but the German optics brand has now turned its finely-tuned lenses on the projector market. Announced this week — but not launching until 2023 — the ‘Cine 1’ is an impressive, aluminium ‘ultra short throw’ projector that uses unique triple laser technology and an aspherical Summicron lens to project images up to 100 inches wide.
Glow up: N°1 de Chanel Revitalising Serum
The latest unisex launch from the luxury French fashion house is this; an invigorating, anti-ageing serum formulated using the extraordinary ‘Red Camellia’ flower. The brand recommends swirling this into your nighttime grooming routine — with it promising diminished wrinkles, refined pores and elasticity restoration as a result.
Making time: Tissot PRX ‘Powermatic 80’ Wristwatch
A slim, sophisticated watch with a retro flavour, the PRX ‘Powermatic 80’ from the Swiss watchmaker sees a handful of trusty twenty-first century features eased elegantly into a vintage-tinged Tissot case from 1978. Behind that bold textured dial, the self-winding Powermatic movement delivers reliability, precision and an 80-hour power reserve.
Good as gold: Glenfiddich ‘Time Re:Imagined’ 50-Year-Old Whisky
In order to “gloriously bridge the past with the present”, the famed Scottish whiskymaker has launched a new collection of 50, 40 and 30-year-old whiskies. The longest-aged is this; a 220-bottle limited edition spirit aged in American oak casks and brimming with notes of rich orange peel, Madeira cake and sweet muscovado sugar.
Top it off: Solo Stove ‘Pi’ Pizza Oven
If you’ve not got pockets deep enough — or a proclivity for pizza strong enough — for a high-end, permanent pizza oven, the ‘Pi’ from Solo Stove is perhaps the perfect portable al fresco option for you. Built for back gardens, its dual-fuel design allows wannabe pizzaioli to make wood-fired pizzas or bake with a propane burner. Buono!
