Every so often, we witness a brand — whether it be a car manufacturer, a whisky distillery or a Savile Row tailor — take a plunge. And these dips and dabbles, even if just slightly outside of their comfort zones, are always thrilling to watch. Just look at Maserati, who this week unveiled its first fully-electric model. Or De Beers, a jeweller embarking on a genderless future.
There are, of course, also more literal plunges to be taken; this week, we’ve seen Panerai’s latest deep-diving watch splash down, a luxurious personal submersible from Triton surface and Otam’s new motor yacht make some serious waves. Keeping time: Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro Automatic at MR PORTER
It’s no wonder that Panerai’s deep-diving ‘QuarantaQuattro’ has given us a blast of the blues. As the rhythmic star of MR PORTER’s musically-minded ‘Keeping Time’ campaign, this 44mm Carbotech-cased tool watch hits all the right notes. We particularly like its jazzy ‘Caoutchouc Dark’ strap, in a blue that complements that luminous dial.
Buckle up: Kit Blake ‘Aleks’ Wool Flannel Trousers
Available at Gentleman’s Journal Shop, this best-selling style from the British brand is splendidly straight; a classic Savile Row design, updated for the modern man. Shock and awe: 2023 Maserati GranTurismo ‘Folgore’ Coupé
‘Folgore’, in Italian, means ‘lightning’. And it’s a sufficiently sparky name for this bright new Maserati. With 750 horsepower crackling through to its wheels, the carmaker’s latest coupé goes electric — leading the eco-supercar charge with a reported 0-62mph time of just 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 198mph. Its most impressive stat, however, is a range of 279 miles.
Back in black: De Beers ‘RVL’ Bracelet In Black Titanium and Rose Gold
Despite a mix of metals, De Beers’ latest precious collection is an exercise in restraint. Smooth and solid in form, each unisex piece is a statement of simplicity — none more so than this cord bracelet. Featuring a hidden diamond, concealed lettering and an almost-monochromatic design, it’s an understated spin on luxury jewellery.
Making waves: Otam 58' GTS Motor Yacht
Bombastically named ‘Bad Boy’, the new-look Otam 58′ GTS recently made its head-turning debut at the 2022 Cannes Yachting Festival. The updated exterior now offers a semi-open deckhouse with sharply raked windscreen, and a more aerodynamic profile to provide less turbulence and superior comfort at high speeds.

In a new verdant colour, Chopard’s latest Alpine Eagle has spread its wings. Crafted from ultra-resistant and highly luminous ‘Lucent Steel’, this bright new timepiece is a beacon of green living — and the brand promises to donate a share of proceeds to the Alpine Eagle Foundation, which has already enabled the reintroduction of the white-tailed eagle in the Lake Geneva region.
Shifting gears: Audi R8 Coupé V10 GT RWD
Strictly limited to 333 cars worldwide, the second edition of Audi’s exclusive super sports car tears onto the scene twelve years after the premiere of the first Audi R8 GT. With a 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated engine, a new 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and special light alloy wheels, it’ll likely move even more quickly than it sells out.
