Editor’s Picks: Barbour Jacket, Devialet Speaker and Range Rover Convertible
From the world's first rum to be distilled at sea to a wristwatch celebrating one of Breitling’s founders, this is what we want this week…
Words: Jonathan Wells
Here at Gentleman’s Journal, we love a limited edition. There’s just something about the excitement and the exclusivity. It turns our heads and piques our interest — especially when it’s unexpected.
Like who thought we’d ever see a bright red Barbour jacket? Or a Devialet speaker plated in 24-karat gold? Or a Range Rover Classic, not only convertible but also converted to run on electricity? We certainly didn’t, but we’re glad they all rolled around…
Raise a glass: Krug Clos du Mesnil 2008

If you’re yet to secure a ticket to next week’s ‘Seeing Sound, Hearing Krug’ experience, then don’t despair! We’ve got just the bottle to bring you solace. With sparkling, comforting notes of rich walnut, buttered brioche toast and and soft stone fruits, it’s consolation in a coupe.
Soft touch: Orlebar Brown ‘Sebastian’ Cashmere Polo Shirt

The British-based resortwear brand may not be a mainstay of our winter wardrobes, but Orlebar Brown has much to offer — come rain or shine. For these colder snaps, we’re fond of the ‘Sebastian’ polo, tailored from a warming, luxurious cashmere blend and finished with a versatile two-part collar.
Top down: Lunaz Range Rover Classic Convertible

Earlier this year, when we took a trip to brand’s electrifying Silverstone workshop, Lunaz promised that it had many exciting projects in the pipeline. And this, a new roofless Range Rover that replicates the memorable motor driven in 1983 Bond film Octopussy, is one of its fossil fuel-free finest.
Brush up: Salt Grooming Thickening Shampoo

Who doesn’t yearn for thicker locks — especially when the temperatures drop? Thankfully, if your thatch is feeling a little thin, Salt Grooming is on clinically-proven hand to help. Formulated with a powerful blend of organic actives, peptides, aminos (and a wild mint fragrance), your hair won’t know what’s hit it.
Founding father: Breitling Premier B21 Chronograph Tourbillon 42 ‘Gaston Breitling’

The Swiss watchmaker has unveiled a trio of ultra-premium timepieces, each inspired by one of the original Breitling brothers. Our favourite of these three landmark watches, the ‘Gaston Breitling’ has a solid 18k white gold case, a handsome anthracite dial and black alligator strap.
Look sharp: Silhouette 'Sant Pere' Sunglasses

Wintry weather doesn’t tend to call for sunglasses. And yet, when the sun does decide to shine, you want to be prepared. That’s why we’re pocketing a pair of these lightweight, durable frames — crafted from high-impact polycarbonate and coloured a versatile earthy brown.
Buon appetito: Sparrow Italian Restaurant

Tucked down Mayfair’s intimate Avery Row, Sparrow is the spot for any Londoners missing their summer holidays. Serving up modern coastal Italian cuisine — think ‘Grilled Octopus’, ‘Andrea Burrata’ and ‘Pistachio Pesto Pasta’ — it’s like they’ve plated up Positano from the culinary comfort of the West End.
Seeing red: Barbour x Noah ‘Bedale’ Jacket

Calling on fashion’s favourite cult brand, New York-based Noah, Barbour has reimagined its classic ‘Bedale’ jacket in a host of bold, bright colours. Whether blue, green or this striking scarlet red shade, each design is cut from the British brand’s reliable hardy cotton — but now features a fresh tartan lining.
Making waves: Golden Tide Rum

A sister spirit to Tidal Rum — the British-made bottle that swept our most recent Drinks Awards — ‘Golden Tide’ is the world’s first rum to be distilled at sea. Blending coastal botanicals with a five-year-aged Bajan rum, the spirit will be aged aboard P&O Cruises’ ‘Arvia’, and made available exclusively to guests on board.
Sound it out: Devialet ‘Mania Opéra de Paris’ Portable Speaker

Since Devialet turned up the noise on audio engineering in 2007, the French brand has been pushing the boundaries of what speakers can achieve. But the ‘Mania’ marks its first portable speaker. And this ‘Opéra de Paris’ edition is even more exclusive again, plated as it is with 24-karat gold.
Natural born: Baz & Co Skincare ‘Baz Bundle’

“Feed your skin!” beseech the good people over at Baz & Co. And we’d suggest you listen to them, especially when their green-packaged products are as antioxidant-rich and artificial-free as this. The ‘Baz Bundle’ is a top place to start, containing a body wash, a cleanser and a moisturiser.
Step up: Dolce & Gabbana Calfskin ‘Hi-Trekking’ Boots

In Covent Garden, you’ll currently find a special ‘Holiday Market’ popped-up by Dolce & Gabanna — a wintry wonderland brimming with Italian atmosphere. Among the alpine products on offer? These calfskin trekking boots, with cleated soles strong enough for even the most mountainous hikes.
