Diary: The Boodles Boxing Ball

Diary: The Boodles Boxing Ball

On Saturday evening the Grosvenor House Hotel in London played host to the annual Boodles Boxing Ball organised by James Amos, director of British jewellery brand Boodles, along with nightclub owner Charlie Gilkes, Hugh Van Cutsem, Jez Lawson, Bear Maclean and Alice Beaumont.

Of the evening, James Amos commented that “having fought in the very first Boodles Boxing Ball back in 2002, I feel a lot more comfortable organising the event than stepping into the ring these days! It has been a privilege to be involved with the ball over so many years, and I am indebted to my wonderful committee, the dedicated boxers, and the guests for turning it into a sell-out event yet again.”

The annual event hosts several boxing matches throughout the evening and this year, the black tie affair was supporting The Gordon Ramsay Foundation in association with Cancer Research UK. Returning for the sixth time and as usual, the famous star-studded event drew a host of well known names and faces. From high profile celebrities including Gordon Ramsay, Pippa Middleton, Holly Branson, Natalie Pinkham, Christian Candy to Henry Beckwith and Sir David Tang among others; all of whom were offering their support to the benefiting charity, The Gordon Ramsay Foundation in association with Cancer Research UK.

Over £500,000 was raised on the night, generating a total of over £1million that has been raised for charity over the course of the past six Boodles Boxing Ball events. Going out with a bang, it was announced during the evening that this would be the final Boodles Boxing Ball that the committee will be hosting.

Guests enjoyed a Veuve Clicquot champagne reception and a dinner menu designed by Gordon Ramsay himself, which included dishes such as beetroot cured salmon with buratta and feather blade fillet of beef; followed by six bouts of boxing and dancing, hosted by 80’s themed nightclub, Maggie’s. The Chelsea hang out also hosted a pop up bar complete with a selection of bespoke cocktails including their ‘Club Tropicooler’ drink served in a Margaret Thatcher shaped mug.
