Why We Can’t Get Enough of House of Cards
Unless you have been living under a rock for the past year, this pseudo-fictional American political drama is on everyones lips. Critics and audiences alike can’t stop raving about it, and we just can’t help but get in on the act. Here is why House of Cards is such a massive success.
It’s given people something to talk about other than Breaking Bad, Remember when all anyone could EVER talk about was Breaking Bad? “Have you seen this new show? Oh you have got to, it’s the best TV drama I think I’ve ever seen.” Yeah, we get it, you and everyone else on the planet. Don’t get us wrong, we love it too but all the hype was getting a little boring, no? Well, House of Cards is filling that social commentary void and, weirdly, it’s not annoying us in the slightest.
Kevin Spacey is pretty much the coolest guy on Earth, Respected film actor turned TV star. Respected film actor turned TV star which only appears on the internet. Most wouldn’t have been able to pull it off but Spacey can do no wrong. Add in his sparkling CV – American Beauty, LA Confidential and The Usual Suspects – and the fact that this is his best work to date makes you see just how good he really is.
The Women are really Hot, Robin Wright and Kate Mara… need we say anymore?
The Writing is Incredible, Witty, fast paced, thrilling and mysterious – it is the writing first and foremost that makes House of Cards a hit. Add in the stunning cinematography and Emmy award-winning directing from Oscar nominated David Fincher and you have got a show to take serious notice of. What’s more, the supernova that is House of Cards was sparked by the 1990 BBC mini-series by the same name. Everyone can thank us then, yes?
It’s a original Netflix production, The fact that House of Cards has not only survived but thrived without appearing on Network television shows where our watching habits are going and where they could progress to in the future.
It’s filled with debauchery, murder, corruption and power…, And this makes for some pretty awesome viewing.
