Bond’s Tailor Is Back
Words: Gentleman's Journal

This year celebrates fifty years of James Bond, arguably one of the most successful film franchises of all time. To celebrate this, Bond’s original tailors, Anthony Sinclair, has re-launched its bespoke tailoring service.
Anthony Sinclair became known for creating the iconic Conduit Cut that Sean Connery wore so well. You may remember that classic picture of Mr Connery leaning up against his Aston Martin, wearing a grey suit with the mountains in the background, that is the suit we are talking about here. It arguably changed British tailoring, as Sinclair broke away from Britain’s customary heavy materials and used lightweight fabric, tailored with a soft and durable construction.
The Conduit cut (named afters its shop on Conduit street) is still today just as fresh as it was in 1962. Today however, Anthony Sinclair is based on Sackville Street and is under the creative control of British designer David Mason. Mason says “The bespoke tailoring service involves a series of fittings and at least 50 hours of hand tailoring to take the garment through successive stages of production, allowing clients to witness the true bespoke experience of having clothes built around them.”
Anthony Sinclair appointments can be made at 6 Sackville Street or by calling 020 7437 7007 anthonysinclair.com
