The Bentley Continental Supersports is the king of the road

We're crowning this latest blend of performance and luxury Bentley's best yet

Next year, we’ve been promised that the new-generation Bentley Continental will be released. With a plug-in hybrid variant slated to be introduced, the luxury carmaker is set to make jaws drop and wallets run dry all over the world.

But, like us, if you can’t wait until then, we have good news for you – and it comes in the form of the Continental Supersports.

The fastest and most powerful production model to date, this brand new Bentley has an astonishing top speed of 209 mph and can do 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds thanks to its mighty W12 engine.

The Continental has always given us an almost unrivalled fusion of performance and luxury, and the Supersports takes this one step further. To up the output (this model boasts an eye-watering 700 bhp), newly-designed and higher capacity turbochargers have been paired with a revised charge-air cooling system for extra boost.

And, in the looks department, unique interior and exterior styling cues include newly sculpted front and rear bumper designs, a carbon fibre splitter, bonnet vents and a rifled exhaust tailpipe design. For a touch of the dramatic, Bentley have also added dark-tint headlights and black-finished brightware to the front grilles, door handles and window surrounds.

But it’s not just all about flair. Neck warmers for convertible driving and an updated version of the torque vectoring system for improved handling are practical additions to the Supersports.

But you don’t really care about that, do you? The performance may be important, but you buy a Bentley for the luxury – and the interior of this new $300,000 Supersports has decadence in spades. Quintessentially British, a new diamond-quilted design has been incorporated into the seats and door panels.

And, while the existing list of ten interior trims was exciting, the addition of an eleventh – chequered Supersports carbon-fibre fascia trim – has somehow once again shifted things up a gear. Add a bespoke steering wheel and unique gear lever into the mix and the Supersports makes for a truly excellent – not to mention incredibly opulent – driving experience, both inside and out.
