The accessory that’s guaranteed to up your style game
Why this brand is a cut above the rest...
Words: India Gladstone
Style and fashion can be extremely daunting for many men but it’s often the small details that have the biggest impact. Style is all about reflecting personality and individuality, be it conservative, subtly playful or flamboyant and expressing this comfortably comes far more naturally to some than others. Accessories are often an over looked area that can play a significant role, after-all it’s all about attention to detail and nothing reflects this better than your socks. People will repeatedly see your socks throughout the day; on your commute, in your boardroom, on your lunch break. So, why wouldn’t you make an effort?

The sock game, however, can be daunting, but it’s also often your only chance in a working day to inject a bit of your personality and style into an outfit that could otherwise be bland.

For reasons we’ll never quite understand, socks are often laced with the whole ‘I don’t care what I wear, because no-one will see them.’ Well that, gentlemen, is just not an excuse. People will repeatedly see your socks throughout the day; on your commute, in your boardroom, on your lunch break. So, why wouldn’t you make an effort?
So we look no further than to London Sock Company, a brand we are extremely excited to feature and collaborate on a Sock Style Guide with.
The brand have made waves in the industry since their establishment in 2013, garnering the attention of the likes of David Gandy and Tom Hiddleston to name a few.
London Sock Company in our view is a cut above the rest for many reasons, with style being the main one. Socks are one common denominator when it comes to wardrobe malfunctions the world over, and choosing to buy into a brand as stylish as this is one way to make sure you’re getting it right.
And as you’d expect, there are style rules to follow when it comes to picking the right pair, which is why we reached out to personal stylist Joe Ottaway to answer some common questions when it comes to wearing the right socks for the right place and time:

“My biggest tip is not to feel you need to match your socks to your outfit, use the opportunity of small details like socks and accessories to inject individuality, colour texture and contrast into an outfit.”

“It’s all about striking the right balance when choosing appropriate socks for a professional environment. I would personally air on the side of caution when choosing an alternative colour to a black or a navy but this is very much a personal choice and I know many who love a bright sock in the office, which as long as the quality is there is absolute fine. For me, a dark burgundy, brown, or black and white polka dot are just some choices that would work well for someone who is more on the conservative side.”
“When creating an outfit one of the most important elements is choosing and wearing decent high quality shoes, wearing a pair of socks that are of the same quality is essential in creating an overall professional look.”
“The beauty of staple colour suits is that they carry and complement any other palate of colour, reds and olive greens will go really well with a navy suit. A Prince of Wales check, Polka dot and more vibrant colours will complement a grey suit extremely well.”
If there’s one brand out there to trust when it comes to managing your wardrobe and ensuring you’re looking your most dapper, it’s surely one that’s been supported by some of the world’s most stylish gentlemen.
We guarantee you, gentlemen, that there’s nothing quite like it out there and whether you decide to buy a subscription or a single pair, we guarantee that you’ll come back for more – again and again.
