5 style mistakes that women hate and how to correct them

Whilst dressing well is about respect for yourself and those around you, I think it’s a fair comment to say that it’s also a bit about appearing a more attractive proposition to the opposite sex and, hopefully, getting a leg over. Women also tend to have a grasp on fashion that is far more instinctive and beyond our primitive minds. To ensure we’re no falling foul of the fashion faux pas the fairer sex hate, we enlisted 5 women with impeccable taste to instruct us on the sartorial missteps that really put them off:

Black shirts

Miranda, 24, London:

“They look tacky, there’s nothing worse than if they’re shiny. They remind me of creepy men in clubs, it’s easy to spot the sleazy guys on a night out because they’ll be wearing a black shirt.”

The “going out shirt” is a sartorial sin. Silky, loud and entirely unnecessary, the idea of peacocking to attract women is frankly absurd. Something more classic is always favourable, opt for a simple, yet stylish shirt in its place in a more considered ensemble. Navy is as dark as you should go on a shirt, and keep it to natural materials too – nothing polyester please, otherwise you’re staring right into shiny shirt territory.
