5 style mistakes men make on New Year’s Eve
Words: Charlie Thomas
Men all over the planet will dress up for what is perhaps the biggest party night of the year. Of course, there will be numerous cardinal style sins committed, but that’s where we come in. Here are 5 style mistakes men make on NYE.
1. THE UNTUCKED SHIRT, Given that it is the end of the year after all, many men (rightly so) are looking to dress up. Leaving your shirt untucked under a blazer is a school-boy error though, not least because it’s scruffy and unrefined. A gentleman always tucks his shirt in.
2. SKIMP ON SHOES, Another by-product of the man who lacks a well-put-together wardrobe is poor shoe choice, especially in a more formal context. Cheap, square-toed shoes should be avoided at all costs.
3. CLIP-ON BOW TIE, A true gentleman is a man of detail. A cheap, clip-on bow tie is an ungainly attempt at what should be the most elegant form of neck-wear available.
4. UNDER-DRESS, Whilst many men attempt a more formal approach, those who don’t put any effort in at all are the worst culprits of bad dress. For tips on black tie and ways to wear the dinner suit, click here.
5. THE WORK SUIT, That said, simply throwing on the same suit you wear 9-5 simply will not cut it. Make an effort gentlemen, it is New Year’s Eve after all.
