3 POP-UPS WORTH VISITING THIS WEEKEND
Words: Holly Macnaghten
Put all preconceived ideas of pretentious posers and sub-par cocktails out of your mind, as this weekend there are only 3 pop-ups worth going to, and we’ve taken the liberty of sussing them out for you…because we’re nice like that, call it festive cheer if you will.
EAT & DRINK: DRAM & SMOKE, , Dram and Smoke is without a doubt our favourite pop-up bar & restaurant of the moment. With our North of the boarder roots getting us feeling a tad patriotic, this Scottish pop up is a buzz with delicious food and hearty cocktails.

We can’t recommend the five course menu enough – featuring a number of iconic dishes created using their custom-built whisky barrel smoker including their signature, venison wellington with bramble and ale sauce. If it’s the drinks that you’re more interested in, then trust us you won’t be disappointed. Dram and Smoke offer a rather impressive ‘bevvy’ menu including whisky cocktails and oak aged beers and a seriously long list of gin cocktails. Prepare yourself of an evening of ‘General Flumgummerie’…aka: hijinks, tomfoolery and hullaballoo.

SHOP: MODERN SOCIETY PRESENTS: WINTER SUITCASE, , Gentlemen, listen up! If the promenade of designer boutiques on the Fulham Road just isn’t cutting the mustard these days, then take our advice and head straight to No.172 for a breath of fresh retail air. Our favourite Fashion & Travel magazine has teamed up with The Modern Society and Taylor Morris Eyewear to bring you the coolest pop-up in town this season – Modern Society Presents: Winter SUITCASE. Beautifully curated and perfectly picked accessories sit alongside elegant glass display-wear and brilliantly witty notebooks – this truly is your one-stop shop this year.

Over at TGJ we’ve got our eyes on the ‘White Lies’ and perfectly apt ‘A Gentleman’s Notes’ notebooks from Sloane Stationary, sure to make the perfect stocking fillers. If, gentlemen, you are at a loss for what to buy the ladies in your life then rest assured you’ll find what you’re looking for in the form of lust-worthy jewellery from BAM-B. Interiors fans rejoice! If it’s mothers or in-laws that you’re struggling to buy for, then look no further than Grace & Thorn – cacti have never looked so cool. With the toll of Christmas getting to even the most seasoned of shoppers, when it all gets a little overbearing fear not as when the clock strikes 4 you can ease your nerves with a much needed G&T from Martins Miller’s Gin bar downstairs – because sometimes only Gin will do!

WATCH: CINEMA IN THE SNOW, , Considering our less than desirable climate, there’s no denying a Londoner’s love for an outdoor activity and in recent years the outdoor cinema has topped the ‘most loved’ list time and time again, from hot tubs on roof-tops to deck chairs in parks, there was no stopping the epidemic. It has come time, however, for us tough-skinned Brits to wave goodbye to al fresco fun, but fear not as a cosy alternative pop-up has come to Notting Hill this winter and it’s everything you’ll want and more. Guests enter the screening through a fairytale-esq wardrobe where they are greeted with seasonal hot chocolate (with a kick), mulled wine and irresistible nibbles to munch away on whilst watching their film of choice. Showing festive favourites such as Love Actually and Elf, the only problem will be deciding what to go and see. Oh! And did we mention that it will be filled with snow?!
