There are certain corners of Mallorca where it is remarkably easy to understand why people arrive for a holiday and end up staying considerably longer. Valldemossa is one of them.

Set high in the Serra de Tramuntana, the historic village has long been one of the island’s great draws. Cobbled streets, honey-coloured stone, mountain air and spectacular countryside make it feel a world away from the busier resorts of the coast.

The house is the latest project from Berrow Projects, the family-led Mallorcan developer founded by brothers Archie and Monty Berrow. The company has quietly built a reputation for creating some of the island’s most desirable homes, working with local artisans, builders and suppliers to combine traditional Mallorcan materials and techniques with contemporary design. Sa Solana is a particularly good expression of that philosophy.

Set on a 690-square-metre plot, the property offers 324 square metres of living space, with four bedrooms and five bathrooms. Traditional stonework roots the house firmly in its surroundings, while clean architectural lines and large openings create a distinctly contemporary feel.

But, as with the best homes in Mallorca, much of Sa Solana's appeal comes from the relationship between indoors and out. At €4.75 million, Sa Solana sits firmly at the serious end of the Mallorcan market. But property prices have continued to rise in this part of the island. In 10 years time this could look like a shewed investment.
