Church’s and Gentleman’s Journal present the Church’s Craft
Church's and Gentleman's Journal collaborate to host their summer drinks
- Words: Joseph Bullmore
It’s the first week of July in London — Wimbledon season. Or, for those of us not able to ok corporate hospitality lanyards off our latest client, standing-outside-corner-pubs-with-a-continental-lager-and-saying-this-is-the-life season. For both activities, however, one really needs a decent pair of shoes — something that is comfortable and well-designed so as not to give one blisters in the queue for the Pimm’s tent; but also something smart and sleek and strictly classical, too, in keeping with the grand mood of the tournament. Thank the footwear gods for Church’s, then, who held a jolly party in their New Bond Street store on Wednesday in partnership with Gentleman’s Journal, as the golden hour light did its thing and the excellent canapés kept on coming. Friends old and new gathered around as the shoemaker's first class cobblers gave various hands-on masterclasses into the details of their craft, while an advance party soon headed on to La Loma in Oswald’s for a very lovely dinner — many of them freshly shod in a handsome pair of Church’s.
