21 signs you know it’s time to quit your job

We all want the dream job. The National Geographic photographer. RAF Fighter pilot. F1 driver. Red Bull skiing ambassador. Professional darts player. Etc. But, in reality, these are left to the lucky handful and we have to settle for something a little less heart-racing. Obviously there are plenty of great jobs out there, and many of us are wholly content. However, I know a lot of people – and I’m sure you do too – who are fed up.

One can’t forget that work is where we spend nearly two thirds of our time – the other third spent in bed getting some shut-eye – so it’s truly insane to think that this precious time is spent being unhappy. If you fall into these 21 categories, it’s time to make a change…

1. You get to work at 9 on the dot, and leave at 6 on the dot – you clock watch, 2. When asked what job you do, you start your reply with a deep sigh, 3. The Sunday blues are agonisingly painful – actually, the dread occurs on all days ending in y, 4. You casually drift into work late and your lunch hours employ the word ‘hour’ very loosely, 5. You while the time away at your desk on social media, or staring out the window, 6. You have lost respect for your boss, 7. You discover you’re being paid less than the summer intern, 8. You know more than your boss, 9. You feel left out, 10. There’s no room for promotion, 11. You’re working ridiculous hours, yet reaping very little recognition, 12. You hope something dreadful with happen, even to your own well-being, that prohibits you from going into the office, 13. You think of elaborate ways to kill your boss, 14. Your doodling has become worthy of the Turner Prize, 15. You think of ways to sabotage the company, 16. You peruse job offers while at work, 17. ‘Doctor’ and ‘dentist’ appointments become frequent, 18. Your job has been chopped and changed so many times that it no longer matches your original job description, 19. Finding reasons, however inane, to not be at your desk. i.e – non smokers become smokers, 20. The first thing you do when you get home is complain about your day, 21. You avoid work events like the plague
