Midual are passionate about what they do. Born out of a love for traditional craftsmanship, a fascination with engineering and a penchant for quality construction, they’re a company that refuse to cut corners in their hunt for perfection.
This passion is seen in every aspect of their new Type 1 motorcycle. For inspiration, Midual looked at Swiss watchmakers, admiring the surgical precision that they apply to the intricate movements and subtle design elements that define their timepieces. This is seen in tiny aspects such as engraved screws and the different metal finishes used throughout their creation.
Automotive icons from France in the ‘30s and Britain in the ‘50s influenced the overall design of the motorcycle, which fuses its street-bike silhouette with an almost steampunk aesthetic. What’s most impressive though, is how the majority of the machine (including the engine) was built in-house, in a workshop somewhere deep in the heart of France. This gives the bike a sense of unity and an inherent character, which is usually only found in marques with a heritage spanning decades.
