Introducing: Jaguar XE

This is the most important Jaguar in recent history. Following their reinvention a few years ago, Jaguar have been on an absolute roll and with this, the brand new XE, they are set to climb even higher up the automotive ranks.

The Jaguar XE will fill a large gap in the marque’s current line-up. Built to challenge BMW’s 3 Series, Mercedes’ C-Class and Audi’s A4, the XE has got plenty of competition. It will hope to trump its German rivals though, with its outstanding looks (bravo Ian Callum), and broad spectrum of engines. These range from a 161bhp 2.0-litre diesel all the way up to a 336bhp 3.0-litre supercharged V6, which will be enough to power the car from 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds. The latter engine has been borrowed from the F-Type, so you can expect that same animalistic engine note, although we can’t wait for the ‘R’ model, which will feature a a mammoth V8.

Inside the XE you’ll find the same attention to detail that Jaguar is beaming lauded for, although the quality of the finish will not likely be as high as the cars from Germany. The car’s character is what is expected to sell though, and with its aggressive stance, compact design and commanding road presence, the XE will cement Jaguar as a true automotive force to be reckoned with.
