What to wear to Wimbledon

Every summer the world’s finest tennis players descend upon London, for what are universally recognised to be two of the world’s greatest and most prestigious tennis tournaments; Queens and the Wimbledon Championships. The history behind both events is unparalleled and it is this prestige and tradition that make them unmissable not only for the British public, but the entire sporting universe. That said, while Queens is a great event in its own right, Wimbledon is undoubtedly the main highlight. It is a quintessentially British affair, and strawberries, cream, picnics and boater hats are just as much of a mainstay as the tennis itself. Given the time-honoured tradition behind both Wimbledon and Queens, they lend well to those wanting to make an effort with their attire, so if you want to look well-turned out be sure to follow our handy gentleman’s guide to dressing for the tennis.

SMART, , For those wanting to go all-out, a tailored suit in a neutral shade will be spot on. You should be aiming for relaxed tailoring though, as opposed to a boardroom-ready three piece. This Canali linen suit ticks all the boxes, and, as it’s not cut too slim, it will ensure you stay comfortable through even the most gruelling of matches. Pair it with a crisp white shirt and brown suede derbies and you’ll be serving up a winner. Watch out for those strawberries though…

SMART-CASUAL, , Whilst it is a broad term, smart-casual attire often allows for the most creativity, therefore making it perfect for the more eccentric of tennis spectators. Try mixing up your suits and swapping the trousers or blazers around. A pair of pastel shaded chinos would look great with a staple navy blazer, and instead of a dress shirt, opt for a polo shirt, giving your outfit a more informal edge that will look no less stylish.
